What happens if the weather gets bad?
Weather in the Sahara is unpredictable and sand storms happen from time to time. Our tents are built to sustain heavy winds. One of the restaurants at the camp is built from clay bricks and hence offers great shelter if one should get caught in very bad weather. We have great relationship with few hotels in the Merzouga area so in the worst-case scenario we can substitute your night to one of the hotels.
What forms of payments are accepted?
We accept Pay Pal, credit cards including American Express and bank transfers.
Are two nights minimum required?
No, we don’t implement 2 nights minimum though we recommend it to fully appreciate the camp and desert.
Are you open all year round?
In summer months (end of June to August) we keep only 5 tents opened.
What is the best time to visit?
Every time has its pros and cons for visit. Though if we have to recommend a time then March to May and then again end of September to November would be the best. Winter months (December – January) have very cold nights though heating is provided.
Do you have set check in and check out times?
No, anyone is welcome to come at anytime and check out at anytime as well.
Is safe/suitable for children?
Yes, absolutely. Children love the excitement of sleeping in tents and yet having the comfort of flush toilet and mainly they have great fun riding camel. We will be opening small tent design for children with toys and children books for families.
Can you pick up from Errachidia airport even late at night upon landing?
Yes, we can meet you at the Errachidia airport at anytime even late in the evening when the flight from Casablanca lands. It is safe to drive at night. We would provide light dinner upon arrival.
Can you cater meals for dietary options?
We have our own kitchen at the property of the camp and therefore can tailor to any dietary requirements. Prior notice is required before guest’s arrival.
What is your cancellation policy?
We require deposit of 25% to secure the booking and balance is possible to pay at the camp. In case of cancellation we refund the deposit if we receive written notice at least 21 days prior to your arrival. Please note that we don’t refund any bank or credit card fees association with the transactions.
What is the difference between main and private camp?
Main camp has 10 king size tents each with private ensuite bathroom. The private camp has only 3 king size tents each with private ensuite bathroom. The difference is that Private camp is sold exclusively only so it guarantees that no other travelers will be staying at the camp. It is completely private – perfect for honeymooners or small families desiring privacy.
Do you sell alcohol?
No, we don’t sell alcohol. But clients can bring their own alcoholic beverages to the camp. We have wine and beer glasses.
How long is the camel trek?
Camel trek is included in your stay and can be as long or as short you wish. If you like only to get the feel of it you can go for 20 minute ride or spend the full day on camels.
Will I see stars?
We hope you will, though we cannot guarantee it! When there is full moon the stars are not too visible as the moon gives too much light. Also if the weather is too stormy, cloudy the stars are not as visible. We have candle lighting at the camp to avoid any light pollution.
What is there to do if I stay more then 1 night?
Yes, absolutely! We have design the camp so you have things to do if staying more then 1 night. First of all the tents are comfortable with hot showers, flush toilets and comfortable medical bedding that guarantees celestial sleeps. But mainly there are areas and activities set up that you can enjoy. You can do camel rides, sand board the desert dune right by the camp, guided walking tours, visit Nomads, play handballs, table games. If you are adventurous enough try the sand hammam - dig yourself completely in the sand. There are many areas spread around both camps where one can relax and get absorb by the desert landscape. Stay is all-inclusive so iced cold non-alcoholic beverages are included, all meals and many of the activities too.
What is the weather like is it cold at night?
This depends on the year of time you come.
Winter months – very-nice pleasant, warm and sunny days. Though the nights and early mornings are cold. Be prepared for cold temperatures. We provide electrical or gas heaters at the tents, water bottles for beds and/or electrical heating blankets for beds.
Spring months – Longer days and getting warmer during the day. Nights are much more comfortable and generally in end of March to April no heating in tents is required anymore. It is pleasant. Though sandstorms can appear during this time of the year and May to June is starting to get really hot.
Fall months – Warm dates and nights. Sunny blue sky, October to November is probably one of the best months.
Is there fast help available in case of emergency?
There is always 4x4WD vehicle parked at the camp. In case of any emergency, one can be taken to Rissani or Erfoud hospital.
Is there electricity at the camp?
Yes, every tent has switch for lights and power outlets where one can charge their equipment. Though please note that we don’t have hairdryers as they take too much power. Our electricity at the camp is provided only from solar panels. In winter months we switch it off at about 11pm to midnight to preserve it, as days are short and not much electricity is generated.
What happens with my luggage?
Transfers to the camp are provided by 4x4WD and all your luggage is taken directly to the camp.
Is it safe?
We believe that no place is safer then the desert especially in todays world where anything or anyone can be targeted. Desert is a vast open space with great visibility and limited amount of life (hardly a target to anyone).
Is there WIFI?
We don’t have WIFI or Internet. Most people come to the desert to get away from it all. Here instead of phones, tables and computers we offer stunning desert landscapes, peaceful desert walks, starry night sky and friendship bonds with Berber guides and other guests. However, if WIFI is a must to your stay we will work to make special arrangements.
If we want to book a package desert tour is their ideal amount of days?
The more days you have for your luxury desert tour the better it is. The minimum we would recommend is 3 days but having 4 or 5 days is much better to fully appreciate the desert tour in Morocco.
How well your are located?
Location is one of the biggest key regarding choosing your desert camp. Merzouga and the desert dunes of Erg Chebbi are extremely crowded with too many camps. It is unfortunately not regulated. Our location is the best in entire Merzouga area. Location of Desert Luxury Camp is the biggest luxury. We are set deep inside the desert with no any camp in close proximity. Our clients can set for walk for miles before they encounter any other camp.
